DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, EDITOR, MULTIMEDIA ARTIST
NICOLA PIOVESAN WAS BORN IN VENICE, ITALY, ON THE 1ST OF APRIL, 1979, AND SPENT HIS CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE IN THE LANDS OF THE VENETIAN LAGOON. IN 1999 HE MOVED TO BOLOGNA, WHERE HE GRADUATED FROM DAMS CINEMA SCHOOL IN 2004. HE BEGAN DIRECTING SHORT FILMS IN THE AUTUMN OF 2001 AND HAS BEEN SCREENED, TO DATE, AT MORE THAN 60 FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD, WINNING ALMOST 40 AWARDS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY, DIRECTING, SCREENWRITING, EDITING, SPECIAL EFFECTS, AS WELL AS AUDIENCE AND CRITICS AWARDS. FROM 2008 TO 2011 HE TAUGHT CINEMA IN AN AUDIOVISUAL COMMUNICATION COURSE OF A COLLEGE IN COMO, WHICH LED HIM TO MOVE TO MILAN IN 2009. HIS SECOND DOCUMENTARY FROM 2009, SET IN VAL GRANDE, THE LARGEST UNINHABITED AREA OF ITALY, HAS WON AN AUDIENCE AWARD AND A JURY AWARD. IN 2011 HE ACHIEVED GREAT SUCCESS AMONG PUBLIC AND CRITICS ALIKE WITH HIS SHORT FILM "THE BEARDLESS GARIBALDI", NOMINATED AT THE SHANGHAI FILM FESTIVAL, AND WON DOZEN OF AWARDS (LIKE THE BEST COMEDY SHORT AT THE PORTOBELLO FILM FESTIVAL IN LONDON AND THE FIRST PRIZE AT THE FESTIVAL OF HUMOR IN ALICANTE, SPAIN). IN 2012 HE WON A JURY SPECIAL MENTION AT CINEMAMBIENTE WITH HIS LAST DOCUMENTARY "LAGUNEMINE". IN THE AUTUMN OF 2011 HE MOVED TO HELSINKI, FINLAND, WHERE HE LIVES UP TO DATE WORKING AS A FREELANCER IN THE FIELD OF VIDEO AND MULTIMEDIA FOR CLIENTS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD.
